GYMBERS

My workout didn't sync

A session you logged isn't showing up on your other device. Here's what's happening and how to push it through.

Updated

Your workout is almost certainly not lost. The Gymbers app saves every session on your phone the moment you log it, and syncs it to your account separately — so a session that hasn't appeared elsewhere is a sync that hasn't happened yet, not data that's gone.

Check the phone that recorded it

On the phone you trained with, open the Workout tab. If it shows Resume Workout, the session was never finished — skip to When the session isn't finished.

Otherwise tap ⋯ at the top right, then Workout History. If the session is there, it's a sync that hasn't run yet — carry on below.

Open the app with a connection

The app syncs when it opens, and again when you switch back to it if it hasn't synced in the last five minutes. It doesn't sync while it's closed or in the background, and finishing a workout doesn't start a sync on its own.

  1. Get onto a connection you trust

Mobile data is the reliable test. Gym wifi that wants you to sign in on a web page looks connected but lets nothing through, so turn wifi off rather than switching networks.

  2. Close the app fully and open it again

Swipe it away from the app switcher, then reopen it. Leave it open for a minute so the sync can finish.

  3. Do the same on the other device

The other device only fetches new sessions when it syncs too, so close and reopen the app there as well. Pulling down on the history list doesn't fetch anything new.

Make sure both devices are the same account

If you signed in with Apple on one device and with your email address on the other, those can be two separate accounts with separate histories — the data isn't missing, it's in the other one.

Check the email on both devices: open Settings, tap Profile, and it's under your name. If they don't match, that's the cause.

Before you sign out to switch accounts, check where the missing session is. Signing a different account in on a phone clears the sessions the previous account hadn't synced yet. If the session you're after is on the phone signed in to the wrong account, get in touch before signing out.

When the session isn't finished

Only finished sessions sync. If you closed the app mid-workout, the session is still open on that phone, even though it already appears in its history. Tap Resume Workout, then Finish Workout, and open the app with a connection as above.

Still nothing

Get in touch and include the date and rough time of the session, the device you logged it on, and the account email. That's enough for us to look for it on our side.
